Located in the beautiful and vibrant beach community of Santa Monica, the Fairmont Miramar Hotel, is conveniently

located directly across from the glittering beaches in one direction and Santa Monica’s famous Third Street Promenade in the other. The Third Street Promenade, an outdoor pedestrian-only shopping and entertainment destination, offers fine restaurants, live entertainment, movie theaters, shopping, a local artists’ scene and a bi-weekly Farmers Market. Nearby communities include Venice, Malibu and Beverly Hills. For art enthusiasts, the J. Paul Getty Center and Los Angeles County Museum of Art are only a short drive away in addition to the 75 art galleries located in Santa Monica. Golf lovers can enjoy the scenic Ocean Trails Golf Club, located atop the bluffs of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, or the Malibu Country Club, nestled in the majestic rolling hills of the Santa Monica Mountains.

A limited number of guest rooms have been reserved at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel for conference participants at a special conference rate of $249.00 per night plus tax for single or double occupancy. To reserve a guest room, please call the hotel reservations office at 800.441.1414 and identify yourself as an attendee of the Xth International Small Bowel Transplant Symposium. In order to receive the group room rate, a credit card must be provided and charged a deposit of one night’s room and tax at the time of booking. The Fairmont Miramar will take reservations for our group until August 14, 2007. After this date the hotel will take reservations on a space availability basis and at prevailing hotel rates.

Language

The official language for the Congress is English.

Translations will not be provided.

Climate

The climate in Santa Monica is temperate throughout the year with nearly continuous sunshine. September is warm and often very dry but evenings are considerably cooler.  Average high temperatures are 65°F/22°C from winter to summer.

Airport Information

The nearest airport serving major commercial airlines is Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), which is only 8 miles (13 km) south of Santa Monica.  Alternative airports include: Bob Hope Airport (BUR) in Burbank, CA, 25.8 miles to hotel; Long Beach Airport (LGB), Long Beach, CA, 31.9 miles to hotel; John Wayne Airport (SNA) in Irvine, CA, 50.2 miles to hotel; and Ontario International Airport (ONT) in Ontario, CA, 55.7 miles to the hotel.

Day parking is $15; overnight parking is $30.

Refunds

Cancellations must be received in writing by August 5, 2007 and will be subject to a $50 processing fee. No refunds will be given after August 5, 2007.
